True Botanicals - High performance Eco luxury Haircare

Updated: Dec 21, 2019

Trying a new natural product line is always a fun and interesting experience for me. I never know how it’s going to perform because each formula made by an indie beauty brand is so unique. There's something so magical in experiencing something I know nothing about with the potential that it could be love at first wash. I can’t really say I’ve found a line that I absolutely love to the extent that I find it superior to anything I’ve ever tried. But, I’m hopeful that one day I will. Until then I have found a variety of clean and green haircare lines that address several different hair types and hair concerns and I’ll keep on adding to the list as often as possible.

Things I expect from a duo:

*A good cleanse that has a nice lather that doesn’t look wet at the root from essential oils when it drys - needs to last me at least a few days.

*Moisturizing but doesn’t weigh down the hair

*A luxurious and sensorial experience that stimulates my scalp and soothes my mind

I also want to mention that I think it’s extremely important to find a shampoo and conditioner that makes your hair look amazing without having the dry and style it.

I could talk about hair for days… so I’ll stop rambling and save it till the next blog post.

Now for the review…..

Highlights

Fresh Scent and a truly aromatic experience that awakens your senses.

The natural scent of this shampoo and conditioner is like nothing I’ve ever tried before. It smells like a botanical garden after rainfall or a cup of herbal tea paired with a fresh cut bundle of organically grown flowers.

Product Performance

Shampoo

A truly green and clean ingredient list with a frothy lather that I found extremely satisfying and smells out of this world. It cleansed my scalp and lasted 2-3 days between washes without looking oily which is a big deal for me. Post wash results gave me fluffy voluminous hair that had a great natural fall and movement to it.

Although it's said to be formulated for all hair types I feel that it’s only suitable for strait hair maybe type 2a hair. I don’t recommend this product for curly hair at all if you’re trying to preserve the natural state of your hair and enhance your natural texture. If you have dry and damaged hair I wouldn’t recommend. As far as colored hair I don’t think I would recommend because you would need something a bit more moisturizing. But I will say if you're curious to try it, it’s worth it for the scent and cleansing action. I loved it so much I will be repurchasing it and pair it with another conditioner. I think it’s fine to use as long as you have some sort of elixir to use in your hair after washing it to seal the cuticle and lock moisture into the hair shaft.

Conditioner

Use at the very tips for the best results. Just the right amount of moisture for a daily wash, but deep conditioning treatments + masks will be needed along with a good hair serum on damp hair after washing ( I recommend Glossy Nectar by Oway). If your hair is extremely dry this won’t be a good match for you. Again, I probably sound like a broken record but the fresh scent is to die for.

When using truly natural products please don’t purchase them with the intent of them working like your everyday conventional shampoo such as Pantene Pro-V etc. Understand that they aren’t composed of 20 + synthetic ingredients. Give them a chance and appreciate that they are made with fine quality, ethically sourced ingredients from around the world giving you a truly eco luxury experience.

Other factors:

It’s important to realize that we all have different hair concerns and hair types as well and that haircare isn’t an one fits all type of thing. Again, it takes patience and the willingness to try different things until you find the right match like I’ve said a thousand times and will say it till the end…. good hair takes effort even if you’re blessed with naturally thick and lush hair you still have to maintenance your hair daily, minimize heat exposure, wash/moisturize your hair, get regular trims, etc.
